CenterPoint Energy can help lower the bills of property owners and their tenants who meet the below qualifications.

Property owner?

Are at least ½ of your tenants considered income qualified? If so, apply today through our easy form.

Property owners will be required to submit documentation to validate tenant income. Renter documents that may be used to verify income eligibility include:

  • Last three months of pay stubs W-2 from the most recent tax year
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients: Notice of Decision document
  • Women, Infants and Children (WIC) recipients: Participant Summary document
  • Section 8 award letter
  • Medical Assistance: Medical Assistance Health Care Notice
  • Social Security: Notice of Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA)
  • Habitat for Humanity: A Brush with Kindness homeowner agreement
  • Group Residential Housing – Housing Support letter

If your property owner participates in the Rental Efficiency program, you may be asked to verify income using one of the documents in the section above. Participating in the program may lead to property improvements that could help increase unit comfort and reduce energy bills. The Rental Efficiency program is operated by CenterPoint Energy with program services provided by Frontier Energy.
